Short History About Lambung Mangkurat University

Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law that located on Jalan Brigjen Haji Hasan Basri Kayu Tangi, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan is the fruit of effort from the Independence Revolution of Indonesia. After the recognizing of Indonesia sovereignty at December 27, 1949, the wariors organize a reunion at 1957. From that meeting, an agreement was made to establish Lambung Mangkurat Council that focused to develop and construct South Kalimantan Region.

The organization determined to build a university that named Lambung Mangkurat University. The name is adopted from the name of the figure who play important role in the establisment of Negaradipa Kingdom, a kingdom that being the origin of Banjar Kingdom. The naming of Lambung Mangkurat was intended to commemorate the figure for the societal civilization of South Kalimantan.

The University that better known as Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was inaugurated on September 28, 1958 with the first rector, Lieutenant Colonel Hasan Basry. At it’s inception, there are only 4 faculty in Lambung Mangkurat University, which are Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Social and Political Faculty, and Faculty of Islamology. But after being applied as Public University at November 1, 1960, Faculty of Islamology become a part of IAIN Antasari, and then the Agricultural Faculty was formed in Lambung Mangkurat University. Starting with 4 faculty, now Lambung Mangkurat University have 11 faculty.

Sejarah Perkembangan Fakultas Hukum ULM

The history about Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law can’t be separated from the existence of Lambung Mangkurat University, because when Lambung Mangkurat University been established as Private University at September 21th 1958 by oleh Higher Education Foundations, Lambung Mangkurat have 4 faculty which are:
  1. Faculty of Law;
  2. Faculty of Economics;
  3. Social and Political Faculty; and
  4. Faculty of Islamology.
Two years later, October 29, 1960 Government Regulations Number 41 Years 1960 were issued that Lambung Mangkurat University become a State University after November 1st, 1960, with 4 Faculty, which are:
  1. Faculty of Law;
  2. Faculty of Economics;
  3. Social and Political Faculty; and
  4. Agricultural Faculty.
The Legal Basis of Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law now, is the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 42 of 2015 Regarding the Organization and Work Procedures of Lambung Mangkurat University and Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 43 of 2016 concerning the Statutes of Lambung Mangkurat University. Since its establishment until now there have been 20 (twenty) Dean Periods at the Faculty of Law, Lambung Mangkurat University, namely :

Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law have 4 departments, which are :

  1. Criminal Law Department;
  2. Civil Law Department;
  3. Constitutional Law Department; and
  4. Procedural Law Departement.

Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law, have 5 academic concentration:

  1. Criminal Law Concentration;
  2. Civil Law Concentration;
  3. Economic Law Concentration;
  4. Constitutional Law Concentration; and
  5. Procedural Law Concentration.

Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law, have 2 masters degree, which are:

  1. Program Magister Ilmu Hukum (PMIH);
  2. Program Magister Kenotariatan (PMKn)

Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law have been accredited by Badan Akreditasi Nasional (BAN) PT with B score.
