Lambung Mangkurat University Faculty of Law that located on Jalan Brigjen Haji Hasan Basri Kayu Tangi, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan is the fruit of effort from the Independence Revolution of Indonesia. After the recognizing of Indonesia sovereignty at December 27, 1949, the wariors organize a reunion at 1957. From that meeting, an agreement was made to establish Lambung Mangkurat Council that focused to develop and construct South Kalimantan Region.
The organization determined to build a university that named Lambung Mangkurat University. The name is adopted from the name of the figure who play important role in the establisment of Negaradipa Kingdom, a kingdom that being the origin of Banjar Kingdom. The naming of Lambung Mangkurat was intended to commemorate the figure for the societal civilization of South Kalimantan.
The University that better known as Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was inaugurated on September 28, 1958 with the first rector, Lieutenant Colonel Hasan Basry. At it’s inception, there are only 4 faculty in Lambung Mangkurat University, which are Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Social and Political Faculty, and Faculty of Islamology. But after being applied as Public University at November 1, 1960, Faculty of Islamology become a part of IAIN Antasari, and then the Agricultural Faculty was formed in Lambung Mangkurat University. Starting with 4 faculty, now Lambung Mangkurat University have 11 faculty.
